Football odds change but your bookie may offer lines varying greatly from a Las Vegas sportsbook. If you bet often enough, you’ll notice the difference in Vegas odds and bookie football odds.
Your local book typically has a problem. They probably catch more wagers for the favorite. If they are catching more action on the favorite in any sport, their lines aren’t going to be the better lines. Also, if you notice a game where the favored team is said to be a “lock” then beware. When you bet with the local guy and there’s a “lock” on the game, you’ll likely see a half-point in their lines. They want a win or a loss with your bet and since it’s a “lock” and a half-point difference is thrown in there, you can expect the loss to be on your end.
