Texas Hold’Em is one of the most popular poker games to be found at a real casino or an online casino. The craze has been sweeping the country for the past few years as ESPN has shown the World Championship of Poker on television and the players have become legends. The game is simple to play once you understand the basic rules. Once you have the rules down then you can begin working on reading the players at the table.
The game begins with a pre-flop. The dealer deals each player two cards and both cards are placed face down. After everyone has received their cards then the betting begins. Next is the flop. The dealer turns over three cards in the middle of the table. These cards are community cards that the players use to create a hand. Then the table places their bets again. The next move is the turn. This is where the dealer turns over a fourth card that can be used by the whole table to create a hand. The fifth and last card is called “the river.” This is the last card that can be used by the players to create a hand. Throughout this process, any player is allowed to fold if they feel that they do not have a good hand, but all bets made up until that point is lost.

After all cards have been turned over and all bets are placed, then the showdown occurs. During this phase, the remaining players in the hand show their cards in the order of who bet first. Each player uses the community cards to make the best hand possible. When all five cards in the community cards make the best hand, then everyone will split the pot.

The two cards that you are dealt or “hole cards” are very important if you want to be successful in the game. A good strategy is to watch those that you are playing with for clues as to what kind of hand they have. There is always time when you are going to have a hand that is not worth holding on to. While you sit the round out, use that opportunity to study the players at your table.

A wise strategy to winning at Texas Hold’Em is to stick to your strong hole cards. Strong cards include pairs of aces, kings, queens, jacks and tens. Other strong cards include suited kings, queens and unsuited aces and jacks, suited queens and kings, and unsuited aces and kings. New players will also want to vary their betting and mannerisms while playing the game. Experienced players will be able to take advantage of the weaknesses of new players by talking at the table and trying to intimidate you.
