The game starts with a preflop. The dealer deals each person two cards. Both cards are placed face down. Betting begins after everyone has received their cards. Next comes the flop. The dealer turns over three cards in the middle of the table. These are community cards that each player can use to create the best hand possible. The betting occurs again. Next is the turn, where the dealer turns over another card. This fourth card is called “the turn.” Betting occurs again after this card is turned over. The fifth and last community card is the “river.” Betting occurs again after this card is turned over.

After call cards have turned over and all bets have been made, the showdown occurs. Here the remaining players in the hand show their cards in order from the person who bet first. Each player who his still in the hand uses his two cards and the community cards to make the best hand. When all five cards in the community cards make the best hand then everyone splits the pot. Anytime throughout the game players may fold and get out of the hand. All bets that were made up to that point will be lost.

The hole cards are very important if you want to be successful in Texas Hold’em. A good strategy is to watch those that you are playing with. You are inevitably going to have a bad hand that will not be worth holding on to. You should use this opportunity to study your fellow players. A wise strategy is to stick to only playing strong hole cards. This makes The Flop a very vital part of the game. Strong hole cards include pairs of aces, kings, queens, jacks and tens. Other strong hole cards include suite aces and kings, suited aces and queens, suited aces and jacks, suited kings and queens and unsuited aces and kings. For new players it is also important for you to vary your betting and mannerisms. Experienced players will try to take advantage of weaknesses by talking at the table and trying to intimidate you.

There is nothing that beats practice. The more you practice, the better you will get. You will need to know when to hold your cards as well as when to fold your cards. Developing a strategy that works for you and allows you to be successful is the one you should follow.
