Beckham Will Get The Chance To Say Farewell!
The man who has represented England’s National Soccer team for the past decade will get one more chance to play for the squad. Coach Fabio Capello has called on Beckham to come play even after announcing that Beckham’s international career was over.
David Beckham is currently the leader in all time caps for England’s National Team. He’s made 115 appearances for the squad throughout his years. He missed this previous World Cup in South Africa as a player because of an injury, but they still brought him along because of his influence on the current players.
At this time England’s preparing for their next major event; the 2012 European Championship. Now that David is 35 years old, England won’t need him. They’re looking for young blood as they can’t keep living in the past. However, all of England must agree with Capello’s decision to give David the opportunity to say farewell and play one more international match.
Capello has decided to give David Beckham the opportunity to get one more cap for England. This will be an opportunity for David to say farewell and thanks to the fans. The picture perfect setting would be at their home field (Wembley Stadium). I admire Capello’s decision to give David this chance, but many people aren’t happy that Capello’s counted him out for the future.
As Beckham ages, he’s become a better leader on the pitch. He’s learned how to play his role exactly as it should be. But Capello doesn’t think this is good enough anymore. England can’t be satisfied with decent results anymore. Capello’s on a mission to get the up and coming players going as soon as possible. Out with the old, in with the new!
Many England supporters were surprised to see Capello coming out with this news before speaking to Beckham regarding his future. Capello said he had not talked to David yet.
In follow up statements, Beckham’s agent responded. He didn’t like Capello counting out Beckham for the future. He also made it very clear that Beckham will continue to play and has no plans of retirement. If this is true, I admire Beckham even more. He loves the game!
Although Capello’s assuming Beckham is ready to retire (at least from international ball), Beckham clearly wants another opportunity. I’ve seen Beckham bounce back before (Real Madrid) and prove the coaches wrong. Although I do believe England needs to find new talent, I’m a Beckham fan and would love to see him make the 2012 squad!
