2010 A New Beginning For The Detroit Tigers
Who would have thought it, the Detroit Tigers in the hunt for October? This must mean that the world is coming to an end when we see the Tigers this early in the season in the position to make an impact in Baseball. Either that or the Tigers are winning by forfeit. Regardless of how they are doing it, the fact remains that the Tigers are winning and doing so quite well. July is not even here and the team is looking like they are a contender to be in the post season already. Could this be a sign of things to come for the second half of the season?
Halfway to a Championship
With the halfway part of the season soon approaching the burning question for the Detroit Tigers is, will the streak continue? With the team only 3 and a half games out of first, there is little doubt that the team could have the top spot in the division before the All-Star break. That is if the team is not distracted and loses their focus. While the team is in second place in the division, there are a few things that need to be looked at. The last ten games they have had a record of 5-5 with a win streak of one. This is the sound of a team that is scratching and clawing for their spot in the division. While they do have a little breathing room as the White Sox are nine and a half back, things can always change quickly.
Swing Batter, Batter Swing
For the past few years, the fans have all wondered, where is the hitting power? This question seems to be answered as this has been a powerful season for the Detroit tigers. There are more hits per at bat than in previous years combined, all of this hitting power, seems to have left the pitchers of opposing teams a little shocked as to where is all of the hitting power coming from? The bats are being lit up on a regular basis every time that they take the plate, there are several different reasons for this, and the most common is that the team is just that good in 2010.
A Pitcher is Worth a Million Dollars
Not all of the success that the team has had can be attributed to the batting order; there is a lot of credit that can be given to the power of the pitching rotation. There are a lot of fans that will forget that the pitchers for the Tigers are a crucial part in making sure that the team has all that they need from the bullpen in order to continue the success. While a few dents in the armor are appearing due to the rotation being overworked. If they are able to remain healthy, the team has a good chance at being there in the end. This is one of the strongest bullpens that the team has had in a while, there are a couple of pitchers in the farm leagues that if need be can be called up to help. These players have not been tested and it is unknown will they be ready if need be.
If you are one of the Detroit faithful, then you can hope that this season is going to be a true test of their talents, and that they will get back to their winning ways. If the team is able to make a successful run into the post season, then there is a decent chance at getting to the World Series.
