Laurent Blanc Takes Over
Laurent Blanc has been appointed the new head coach of the French soccer team. After a successful run for Bordeaux in the French League, he’s taking on a challenge of fixing the French side. South Africa was a complete embarrassment to French soccer and they will not tolerate this!
He’s started out by making big changes. He’s dropped the entire 23-man roster that was in South Africa for his first game as coach.
The French federation approved of this move. I guess they think it’s the right move and have allowed Blanc to make these suspensions after the embarrassing performance they put on.
He will not deal with the negative energy that came out of South Africa and was publicly displayed as well. The team couldn’t win a game and the players protested against the staff. Laurent Blanc means business and will punish the team for this even though he wasn’t there at the time.
Blanc has a lot of work to do before their friendly match vs. Norway on 8/11. He must select an entire new squad. This is in preparation for the European Championship as they must change things around. Their previous performance at the Euro Championship was also a disgrace as they failed to win a game.
The drama of the French soccer team was publicized by Newspapers and TV during the World Cup. Anelka decided to share his feelings about the previous Coach (Domenech) during halftime against Mexico. France was losing 0-2 at the time that these words were said. The French Federation took action and sent Anelka home.
It was after this match that Anelka was sent home. Then things got worse once again. Patrice Evra got caught in a situation with their fitness manager. This was also caught on live TV, which was terrible publicity for him and the team. He’s meant to be a leader as he was appointed team captain. After Anelka was sent home, the French team protested and refused to practice.
This created a ton of publicity in France to the point that political leaders were even questioning this situation. Legendary players shared their opinions as well and Lilian Thurman went on to say that Evra should be banned from the French side. Blanc has a lot of work to do, but things can’t get much worse.
