Football and soccer, soccer and football
Football Soccer, Soccer, Football
What you call the sport depends on which side of ‘the pond’ you live on.
In recent weeks though soccer and football havbe both made news in the US.
David Beckham (ex football player and now a soccer player!) has arrived to play for the L.A. Galaxy team. His first match was against an old UK rival – Chelsea Football Club, however Beckham’s ankle was not up to the task as he had previously injured it, he was only brought on for the last 12 minutes of the game and Chelsea Footbal Club managed to beat L.A Galaxy by a final score of 1-0.
The Americans seemed actually quite surprised that Chelsea managed to beat one of their most prominent soccer teams but I am not sure why. Chelsea are a well established and successful team and just because the Americans had not really heard much about them it didnt mean that L.A. Galaxy were going to win the game.
Beckham’s injured ankle is still troubling him so all bets are on as to whether he wil be fielded when L.A. Galaxy next play.
Talking of footballer’s ankles. Michael Vick’s ankles may be decorated with shackles as he has been heavily implicated in a dog fighting scandal. One of the other defendants in this case has accused Vick of masterminding and funding this abhorrent sport. If he is found guilty I hope that he will face the full wrath of the law. His sponsors have already started distancing themselves and rightly so.
